Net metering & export credits
Net metering with avoided-cost export credits (municipal utility). Excess generation is credited at avoided cost (~2¢/kWh summer, ~1.65¢/kWh winter in 2025); credits roll over monthly but unused credits expire each December. DSIRE lists no aggregate capacity cap or system-size limit for CPS Energy net metering.
Electricity rates
San Antonio residential average ~12¢/kWh (2025).
What this means for solar
- CPS Energy offers a solar rebate to residential/commercial customers when funds are available.
- As a municipal utility it does not allow third-party leases/PPAs — systems are purchased outright.
