Federal status: the residential 25C (air-source) and 25D (geothermal) heat-pump tax credits expired December 31, 2025 and are EXPIRED for 2026 installations. The table below shows only state and utility programs. Amounts marked “verified” were checked against the named administrator in August 2026; all other rows must be confirmed with your state energy office and utility — no amounts are invented.

How to claim in 2026
- Confirm your state energy office program (some states folded heat-pump incentives into broader electrification budgets that change yearly).
- Ask your electric utility directly — utility rebates are often the largest remaining incentive and are not always advertised.
- Keep the AHRI certificate and proof of installation; many programs pay after commissioning.
- Layer any low-income / income-eligible tier — Massachusetts and California both scale sharply higher for eligible households.
