Net metering & export credits
Net billing (no traditional net metering since 2017). Exports are credited via the Resource Comparison Proxy (RCP) rate — $0.06857/kWh for the Sept 2024–Aug 2025 tranche and $0.06171/kWh for Sept 2025–Aug 2026 (official APS tariff). The rate is locked 10 years at interconnection and may drop at most 10%/year.
Electricity rates
AZ residential average ~15¢/kWh (EIA 2026); APS ~13–16¢.
What this means for solar
- APS requires solar customers to be on a TOU rate plan; summer evening peaks (4–7 pm) are most expensive.
- Batteries shift midday solar into peak hours, avoiding the low export credit.
