Net metering & export credits
Full-retail 1:1 net metering (no cap). Exports are credited at full retail; unused kWh credits roll over and are trued up annually (April) at a lower excess-generation rate (~$0.05–0.07/kWh). Maryland law locks in full-retail net metering through at least 2028.
Electricity rates
MD residential average ~17¢/kWh (EIA 2024); Baltimore metro higher.
What this means for solar
- BGE’s TOU rate schedules are not eligible for net metering.
- Maryland offers a $1,000 state solar tax credit plus SREC income.
