Net metering & export credits
Net metering (RENM) with avoided-cost + adder export credits. Exports are bought at the avoided-cost value plus 2.5¢/kWh (low-/moderate-income households get an extra 2¢/kWh); credits carry over indefinitely. The program is capped at 3% of the company’s 2022 system peak, and residential systems are limited to 20 kW.
Electricity rates
MS residential average ~13¢/kWh (EIA 2026).
What this means for solar
- The Mississippi PSC net metering rule applies to Mississippi Power and Entergy Mississippi — not co-ops or TVA customers.
- The state battery-storage rebate program is currently suspended.
