Net metering & export credits
Net metering (Tier 4) — excess credited at 75% of retail. Residential systems up to 25 kW get a 20-year locked Tier 4 credit of 75% of retail for exported energy. Northern Nevada new customers (Oct 1, 2025+) are on 15-minute interval netting (NMR-2025), a change under legal challenge; Southern Nevada keeps monthly netting (NMR-405).
Electricity rates
NV residential average ~15¢/kWh (EIA 2026).
What this means for solar
- A battery stores afternoon solar at full retail value instead of the 75% export credit.
- NV Energy’s storage rebate program closed in 2023; the federal battery credit may still apply.
