Net metering & export credits
Full-retail 1:1 net metering (no cap). Exports are credited 1:1 at retail; unused credits roll over and are cashed out at year-end at the wholesale (avoided-cost) rate. New Jersey’s SuSI program pays ~$85/MWh (SREC-II) on top of net metering for 15 years.
Electricity rates
NJ residential average ~18.5¢/kWh (EIA 2025); PSE&G ~16.5¢/kWh after the June 2025 rate increase.
What this means for solar
- NJ waives the 6.625% sales tax and property tax on solar.
- PSE&G raised rates 17.2% in June 2025, improving solar economics.
